A specialty pharmacist role is available to support clinical and dispensing functions at a newly established Specialty Pharmacy. This contract opportunity offers involvement with a collaborative healthcare team serving primarily oncology patients and handling an average of 50 prescriptions per month.
Location: Elmira, NY
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Duration: 8 weeks with potential extension; temp-to-hire option possible
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense specialty pharmaceuticals in compliance with regulatory and safety standards
- Provide clinical expertise to ensure effective medication management for patients
- Collaborate closely with oncology providers, clinical staff, pharmacy teams, and support departments such as Prior Authorization, Financial Assistance, and transportation
- Utilize EPIC electronic health records for documentation and coordination
- Participate in patient counseling and education, particularly focusing on specialty therapies
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacist in New York State
- Demonstrated experience in specialty pharmacy settings
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record systems (mandatory)
- Oncology pharmacy experience or familiarity with oral oncology medications preferred but not required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams
