A healthcare facility in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a skilled Pharmacist to support their Outpatient Infusion services within a cancer center. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers the chance to contribute to a reputable acute care hospital specializing in oncology patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and dispense chemotherapy and other infusion medications with precision and safety.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to optimize patient treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and safety standards.
  • Utilize EPIC electronic medical records and Pyxis medication dispensing systems efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all pharmacy activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to outpatient infusion services.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia Pharmacist license required.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy settings, particularly outpatient infusion and chemotherapy, highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with EPIC and Pyxis systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced environment.

Schedule:

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday.
  • Shift options: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Pharmacy operating hours: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • No weekend or on-call responsibilities.

About the Facility:

  • Acute care hospital with 380 staffed beds.
  • Average daily patient census around 350.
  • Dedicated outpatient infusion area with 44 infusion chairs.
  • Pharmacy team includes 2-3 pharmacists and 3 technicians.
