DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY – Medication Safety/Compliance Pharmacist
A well-established pediatric hospital near Fresno is seeking a Medication Safety/Compliance Pharmacist to join their pharmacy leadership team. This critical role reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy and plays a vital part in ensuring medication safety and regulatory compliance throughout the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with pharmacy leadership to oversee medication management processes aligned with all regulatory standards and laws.
- Continuously monitoring and evaluating pharmacy practices to promote evidence-based care and drive excellence in patient safety.
- Leading policy and procedure updates that support best practices and compliance.
- Providing education and training on patient safety and regulatory topics.
- Working closely with interdisciplinary teams, including medical staff, to implement positive clinical changes.
- Serving as a patient advocate focused on reducing medication errors.
- Utilizing Medication Error Reporting Program (MERP) expertise and proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Minimum five years of hospital or related pharmacy experience.
- Registered Pharmacist license with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Preferred: Completion of an accredited residency program; management experience; certifications such as Board of Pharmacy Specialties or ASHP/ISMP Medication Safety Certificate.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulatory requirements (including The Joint Commission).
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop collaborative pharmaceutical care processes with staff and clinicians.
Schedule:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Five 8-hour shifts, daytime schedule.
