Pharmacist - Gardena, California

A pharmacist position is available to provide critical pharmaceutical support in a healthcare setting with 173 licensed beds and an average daily census of 140. This contract role offers approximately month-to-month engagement with an initial booking of 8 weeks.

Coverage Hours: Variable day and afternoon shifts

Responsibilities include:

• Verifying medication orders accurately and efficiently
• Overseeing and supervising pharmacy technicians to ensure safe medication dispensing
• Consulting with nurses and physicians regarding medication therapies and patient care
• Applying pharmacokinetic principles to optimize drug dosing and patient outcomes
• Utilizing the Allscripts/Paragon order entry system for processing prescriptions
• Managing automated dispensing cabinets using Pyxis systems

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Valid pharmacist license with current state certifications
• Experience working with hospital inpatient pharmacy operations
• Proficiency in order entry systems, particularly Allscripts/Paragon
• Familiarity with automated dispensing cabinets such as Pyxis
• Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with medical staff
• Ability to work variable shifts including daytime and afternoon hours
