Pharmacist - Gonzales, Louisiana

A specialized Medication Therapy Management (MTM) pharmacist opportunity is available on a contract-to-hire basis for a 13-week assignment, with potential for direct hire. This role supports specialty MTM services and offers flexibility with onsite or remote work options. The position requires a strong foundation in clinical pharmacy practice, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage pharmacy operations efficiently.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medications accurately according to physician orders and established protocols
• Interpret and transcribe prescriptions into computerized patient medication profiles
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient medication records
• Dispense pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, while adhering to legal requirements
• Monitor drug regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness
• Detect and report adverse drug reactions promptly
• Provide clinical consultation to healthcare practitioners and recommend cost-effective therapy alternatives
• Document all clinical activities and interventions thoroughly
• Participate in quality improvement and medication use review initiatives
• Supervise pharmacy support personnel and verify daily activities of pharmacy technicians
• Conduct medication storage inspections and manage drug inventory efficiently
• Ensure timely pharmacy service delivery through effective prioritization and independent work
• Engage professionally with patients and healthcare providers via telephone and in-person communication

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current Louisiana pharmacist license and licensure in at least five of the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, California, District of Columbia, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming
• Prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience required
• Ability to obtain at least 10 additional state pharmacist licenses beyond Louisiana within 18 months in the role
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical laws, procedures, and clinical best practices
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
