A full-time Pharmacist position is available to provide specialized oncology pharmacy support at a community hospital located in Grand Junction, CO. This direct hire role demands clinical expertise, operational pharmacy management, and patient-centered medication counseling, all while adhering to stringent hospital and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders from providers for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions.
- Prepare, compound, and dispense medications—including oral, intravenous, topical, and enteral formulations—in compliance with established protocols and regulations.
- Monitor patient therapy outcomes for safety and efficacy; collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans.
- Provide detailed drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies.
- Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff members.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor medication inventory levels, addressing drug shortages or recalls as needed.
- Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and clinical pharmacy programs.
- Serve as acting Pharmacy Director when required.
- Verify product integrity prior to distribution.
- Ensure compliance with all current United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
- Minimum of one year of relevant pharmacy experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Current, unrestricted Colorado Pharmacist license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
Location:
- Grand Valley Oncology, Grand Junction, Colorado.
- In-person/Onsite work setting.
- Must relocate to Grand Junction, CO (81505) prior to start.
