A hospital pharmacy position is available for a dedicated pharmacist committed to patient safety and clinical excellence. This direct hire role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in medication management and pharmaceutical care in a community hospital setting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately preparing, filling, labeling, and dispensing medications, including parenteral and IV solutions, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards.
  • Monitoring patient drug therapies for safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness across diverse patient populations.
  • Providing drug information and education to physicians, nurses, patients, and healthcare professionals.
  • Managing pharmacy inventory and maintaining thorough departmental records.
  • Supervising pharmacy technicians and supporting staff to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
  • Participating in formulary management and automated dispensing machine updates.
  • Engaging in emergency response teams such as Rapid Response and Code Blue.
  • Adhering to compliance requirements and participating in ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Assuming leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Pharmacy Director as needed.

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • BS in Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
  • Current, active pharmacy license in the state of New Mexico.
  • 1-2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations may be considered.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in pharmacology and therapeutics, including age-specific medication considerations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to make independent clinical decisions.
  • Leadership abilities with proficiency in pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technologies.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

Physical requirements include the ability to perform repetitive hand movements, lift up to 40 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods.
