Pharmacist in Grants, NM

A licensed Pharmacist is sought to manage medication dispensing and clinical pharmacy services within a hospital pharmacy setting. This role requires overseeing daily pharmacy operations, monitoring patient drug therapies for safety and efficacy, and providing drug information to healthcare professionals. The Pharmacist will also assume leadership duties in the absence of the Pharmacy Director, ensuring continuity of care and departmental management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare, label, and dispense medications, including parenteral drugs and IV solutions, while adhering to legal and quality standards.
• Monitor and assess patient drug therapies, communicating with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding pharmacologic considerations and age-specific criteria.
• Maintain adequate medication inventory and oversee pharmacy records in compliance with laws and policies.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and staff, participate in formulary management, and support Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) updates.
• Engage in emergency response efforts, such as Rapid Response Teams and Code Blue situations.
• Complete annual competency evaluations and participate in continuing education to maintain professional development.
• Comply with organizational policies, including the Code of Conduct and Compliance Program, and report any concerns appropriately.
• Foster effective collaboration with healthcare team members across departments.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
• BS in Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
• Current and active license to practice pharmacy in New Mexico.
• 1–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
• Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.
• Leadership abilities and experience supervising staff.
• Proficient with pharmacy information systems and dispensing technology.
• Commitment to patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity for medication preparation and typing.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods.
• Capacity to operate standard pharmacy equipment safely.
