This remote role offers a clinical pharmacy specialist the opportunity to deliver impactful managed care services Monday through Friday with rare weekend commitments a few times per year. Licensed pharmacists in Oregon, Washington, or California with over three years of experience in managed care environments—including expertise in prior authorizations, audits, appeals, and ALJ court hearings—will thrive in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with medical directors, nurse case managers, and network providers to coordinate evidence-based, cost-effective care for health plan members.
- Provide direct patient care through Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and population-based disease management initiatives.
- Oversee specialty pharmaceutical acquisition and facilitate care coordination.
- Conduct drug utilization reviews and contribute to clinical policy development, including participation in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committees.
- Review pharmacy and medical claims to identify medication-related issues and implement effective interventions with healthcare providers.
- Educate and consult with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to enhance care quality.
- Develop and apply drug medical policies that promote safe, high-quality, and cost-effective use of medications.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active pharmacist license in OR, WA, or CA is required.
- Minimum of 3 years in a managed care setting handling prior authorizations, audits, appeals, and similar responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver therapeutic recommendations tactfully to physicians and other health professionals.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare setting.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical pharmacy education.
Location & Schedule:
- Remote position with Monday through Friday hours.
- Rare weekend work required only a few times per year.
