A pharmacist position is available for overnight shifts at a women’s pavilion healthcare facility in Houston, TX. This 14-week contract role begins on March 2nd and offers a 7-on/7-off schedule working from 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM. The position utilizes EPIC for electronic medical records.

Responsibilities include managing the medication process to promote pharmaceutical care through identifying, preventing, and resolving drug-related problems for patients ranging from newborn to adult. The pharmacist will ensure medication doses are appropriate based on patient diagnosis, weight, allergies, and drug interactions to prevent medication incidents. Accurate entry of medication orders and verification of correct medications dispensed are essential to avoid errors. Medication orders must be processed promptly and within established guidelines, maintaining a high standard of safety and effectiveness. Compliance with aseptic technique and infection control is required during sterile product preparation; the pharmacist will also oversee these practices among technicians and peers, completing annual recertification with a minimum score of 90% on related assessments.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience, pediatric experience preferred
  • Valid Texas pharmacist license
  • ACPE IV Certification (Intravenous admixture preparation) required
  • Proficient with EPIC EMR system
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety and aseptic technique
