A 13-week contract-to-hire position is available for a Verification Pharmacist specializing in compounded medications in Houston, Texas. This role focuses on ensuring clinical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance before medications are dispensed. Operating primarily during the first shift, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with occasional weekend hours as needed, the pharmacist will utilize Lifefile software to support their duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct final verification of compounded prescriptions, confirming accuracy, completeness, and adherence to federal and state regulations.
  • Review prescription orders for clinical appropriateness, dosage accuracy, patient information, potential drug interactions, formulation integrity, and accurate labeling.
  • Collaborate with sterile and non-sterile pharmacy technicians to maintain an efficient workflow while upholding the highest quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies, formulation questions, documentation concerns, and medication-related issues.
  • Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to pharmacy technicians on prescription processing, regulatory compliance, and quality expectations.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited institution.
  • An active, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist License in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 2 years of licensed pharmacist experience.
  • Experience verifying prescriptions and reviewing medication orders to ensure patient safety.
  • Familiarity with compliance regulations including USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and HIPAA.
  • Experience preferably in closed-door or compounding pharmacy settings.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume work environment.
