Pharmacist in Charge in Bossier City, LA

A specialty pharmacy is establishing a new site in Shreveport, LA, seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the pharmacy build-out and oversee all aspects of operations. This direct-hire opportunity offers a chance to shape the growth of a startup pharmacy focused on specialty medications, working closely with specialty care clinics to improve patient outcomes and enhance the specialty pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities: • Manage pharmacy build-out, licensing, and opening processes. • Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards. • Serve as the designated PIC, accountable for controlled substance oversight and regulatory inspections. • Oversee daily operations to ensure accurate dispensing, patient safety, and adherence to clinical protocols. • Develop and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and security. • Lead audits and regulatory coordination while maintaining thorough documentation. • Supervise and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and support staff. • Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to optimize formulary use and medication access. • Manage inventory, including procurement, handling of temperature-sensitive drugs, and recalls. • Support patient counseling, medication prior authorizations, and specialty pharmacy workflows. • Participate in strategic planning for pharmacy growth and service line expansion.

Qualifications: • Active, unrestricted Louisiana pharmacist license in good standing, eligible for PIC designation. • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree. • Prior PIC or pharmacy manager experience, preferably in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy. • Strong understanding of specialty medication benefits, prior authorization, and financial assistance processes. • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and quality patient care focus. • Proficient with pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx) and EMR/specialty pharmacy systems a plus. • Outstanding communication skills to collaborate with providers, staff, and patients professionally.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, with schedule details to be determined.
