This direct hire opportunity calls for an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge to lead the development and opening of a new specialty pharmacy serving specialty care clinics. The position is based onsite in Bossier City, LA, with a focus on supporting specialty patients and streamlining pharmacy operations in collaboration with clinic teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily pharmacy operations to ensure regulatory compliance, patient safety, and high-quality dispensing standards
- Acting as the designated PIC with accountability for licensure, controlled substances, and regulatory inspections
- Managing insurance contract onboarding and maintaining relationships with regulatory and accrediting bodies
- Leading audits, maintaining detailed records, and coordinating responses for inspections
- Supervising and training pharmacy staff, maintaining policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and security
- Collaborating with providers and clinic staff to optimize medication access, formulary management, and patient care
- Investigating medication incidents and facilitating continuous quality improvement
- Managing inventory control, including handling temperature-sensitive medications and recall procedures
- Participating in strategic planning to support pharmacy growth and value-based care initiatives
- Serving as a clinical resource in patient counseling, therapeutic substitutions, and prior authorization processes
Ideal candidates will have prior outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy experience, with proven PIC or pharmacy manager leadership. Familiarity with specialty medication benefits navigation, prior authorizations, and patient financial assistance is essential. Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and electronic medical records is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative communication style.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree
- Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in Louisiana, eligible for PIC designation
- Previous PIC or pharmacy management experience in outpatient or retail specialty settings
- Strong regulatory knowledge and compliance expertise
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly for provider interaction and appeal documentation
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday (hours to be determined)
This permanent position offers a competitive salary range of $135,000–$150,000, plus performance bonuses, equity stake, and unlimited paid time off. Immediate start is preferred.
