An experienced Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is needed to lead operations at a newly established specialty pharmacy site. This contract-to-hire position involves playing a critical role in launching and growing the pharmacy’s services alongside a supporting pharmacist. The PIC will ensure the delivery of safe, compliant specialty medication practices while collaborating with clinical, intake, referral, and reimbursement teams to optimize patient care.

Location: Onsite in the Boston, MA area
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Weekend on-call rotation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee prescription review, verification, and dispensing in compliance with regulatory standards including State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, and ACHC
  • Manage patient counseling and medication therapy for specialty disease states
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and interns
  • Collaborate closely with intake, referral, nursing, clinical, and reimbursement teams to facilitate smooth operations and prescription fulfillment
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and operational workflows
  • Support quality assurance, documentation, and incident resolution processes
  • Participate in weekend on-call rotations

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License required; Connecticut license preferred or must be willing to obtain promptly
  • BS or PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, or similar pharmacy settings
  • Strong background in specialty pharmacy operations, infusion, and payer requirements; retail-only experience is not sufficient
  • Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and working with clinical teams
  • Familiarity with CareTend pharmacy system preferred
  • Excellent clinical judgment, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities onsite effectively
