An established specialty pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead operations at a newly established site. This contract-to-hire role is critical in launching and expanding pharmacy services, working alongside another pharmacist to build a strong team focused on specialty therapies and infusion pharmacy care.
Location: Onsite in Boston, MA
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (with on-call weekend rotation)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks with potential extension to 26 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License required; Connecticut license preferred or willingness to obtain promptly
- BS or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in specialty pharmacy, infusion, hospital, or similar environments
- Background in specialty therapies, infusion, or compounding is essential—retail-only experience does not meet requirements
- Familiarity with pharmacy regulatory standards (URAC, ACHC, FDA, DEA) and payer requirements
- Leadership experience supervising pharmacists, technicians, and interns
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and pharmacy software; experience with CareTend preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage prescription review, verification, dispensing, and compliance with all applicable regulations
- Deliver patient counseling and medication therapy management for specialty disease states
- Supervise and guide pharmacy staff, fostering operational excellence
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize intake, referrals, and prescription fulfillment
- Maintain accurate pharmacy documentation and support quality assurance efforts
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed to ensure continuous service
