A Long-Term Care Pharmacist in Charge role is available in the Boston area for a direct hire placement within a closed-door LTC pharmacy serving approximately 600 prescriptions daily. This position demands a strong leader to fill a vital management gap that has been present for several years. The ideal candidate will have solid LTC experience and a proven track record in pharmacy management, with a preference against retail PIC backgrounds.
Key responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of pharmacy operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will manage prescription dispensing, medication counseling, and patient care services while maintaining meticulous records of pharmacy transactions and controlled substance distribution. Policy development, staff guidance and training, inventory oversight, and collaboration with healthcare partners are essential elements of this role. Driving quality improvement initiatives and conducting audits to sustain safety and compliance will also be part of your duties.
The pharmacy uses Frameworks software, with training provided. The work schedule primarily involves day shifts Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend coverage as needed.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active and clear Massachusetts Pharmacist license
- 2-4 years of long-term care pharmacy experience
- Recent management experience in a LTC pharmacy setting is strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to foster a positive and efficient work environment
