This opportunity is for an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the launch and ongoing operations of a new specialty pharmacy in Lakewood Ranch, FL. The PIC will play a vital leadership role in ensuring compliance, regulatory oversight, and operational excellence in a dynamic startup environment for specialty medication management.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the designated PIC, maintaining licensure, controlled substance oversight, and regulatory compliance with state and federal laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA, and accrediting bodies.
- Manage all aspects of pharmacy build-out, opening, and daily operations including workflow development, inventory control, drug storage, prescription processing, and security protocols.
- Oversee onboarding of insurance contracts and collaborate with regulatory agencies and accreditation organizations.
- Lead and mentor pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, ensuring quality standards and ongoing education.
- Partner closely with specialty care clinics and providers to optimize patient outcomes, aid formulary management, and support medication access via prior authorizations and financial assistance.
- Investigate and resolve medication incidents, document findings, and promote continuous quality improvement.
- Act as the clinical pharmacy expert, supporting patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and medication management initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience required with a strong background in outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy; inpatient experience not considered.
- Active, unrestricted Florida Pharmacist license in good standing, eligible for PIC designation.
- PharmD or equivalent advanced pharmacy degree.
- Experience building pharmacy workflows, regulatory compliance, insurance contract negotiations, and specialty medication management.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving skills, and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software such as QS1, PioneerRx, or specialty systems a plus; EMR experience preferred.
Location: Lakewood Ranch, FL (onsite role)
Hours: Monday - Friday (times to be determined)
Employment Type: Direct Hire with Permanent Agreement contract out for review
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range $135,000 - $150,000
- Performance bonus, equity stake, and unlimited PTO
