A newly established specialty pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the launch and ongoing management of their Lakewood Ranch, FL location. This direct hire opportunity offers the chance to shape a cutting-edge specialty pharmacy from the ground up, collaborating closely with specialty care clinics to enhance medication access and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the build-out and opening of the new specialty pharmacy, ensuring all operational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements are met.
  • Serve as the designated PIC, overseeing licensure, controlled substance management, and compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and DEA standards.
  • Lead daily operations, including prescription dispensing accuracy, patient safety, and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and security measures.
  • Supervise and train pharmacists, technicians, and support staff while facilitating continuing education compliance.
  • Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to optimize formularies and ensure seamless patient care coordination.
  • Oversee medication incident investigations, inventory management, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning to support growth and service line expansion in specialty pharmacy and value-based care.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold an active, unrestricted Florida pharmacist license eligible for PIC designation.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree required.
  • Proven PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy settings; inpatient experience is not applicable.
  • Strong knowledge of specialty medications, insurance contracts, benefit investigations, prior authorizations, and financial assistance processes.
  • Proficient with pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx) and ideally familiar with EMR (EPIC, Cerner) or specialty pharmacy systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience composing appeal letters to support medication coverage.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with a collaborative mindset.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, hours to be determined.

Compensation includes a competitive salary range of $135,000 to $150,000, plus performance bonuses, equity participation, and unlimited paid time off.
