Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) - Bridgewater, New Jersey

An exciting opportunity is available for a Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to lead the licensing and operational launch of a new specialty mail-order pharmacy focused on hormone replacement therapy (HRT). This role requires hands-on involvement from the initial licensure application through inspection and full pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the named PIC on the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy application, driving the licensure process from submission to approval.
• Collaborate in facility build-out compliance with regulatory pharmacy requirements.
• Author and implement all pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and workflows prior to pharmacy opening.
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations post-launch, including mail order dispensing and quality assurance.
• Manage DEA registration and ensure controlled substance compliance in all pharmacy activities.
• Maintain audit readiness and serve as the primary contact for regulatory reviews and inspections.
• Recruit, train, and manage pharmacy support personnel as the operation scales.

Qualifications & Desired Experience

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
• Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing, with no history of disciplinary actions.
• Minimum 3 years of pharmacist experience; prior PIC experience strongly preferred.
• Proven experience directing new pharmacy launches, including pre-licensure setup, regulatory applications, and inspection readiness.
• Expertise in specialty pharmacy practice, particularly hormone replacement therapies and mail-order pharmacy operations.
• Strong knowledge of DEA compliance, controlled substance handling, recordkeeping, and reporting.
• Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable with pre-operational, build-out stage environments.
• Willingness to obtain multi-state pharmacist licensure as the company expands nationally.

About the Role

This position offers a unique chance to build a pharmacy from the ground up within a rapidly growing specialty space. The pharmacy currently partners with an existing provider processing approximately 2,500 prescriptions monthly, with plans to transition the majority of those scripts in-house upon launch. The hired PIC will play a critical leadership role in both licensure and operational readiness.

Contract-to-hire arrangement; schedule will be determined based on client needs.
