This position calls for a Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to lead the licensure and operational launch of a specialty mail-order pharmacy focused on hormone replacement therapies (HRT). Located in Lancaster, PA, the new facility is preparing for its Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy license and is seeking a qualified pharmacist to initiate and drive this process. The pharmacy currently partners with another provider handling about 2,500 prescriptions monthly and aims to transition most patient scripts in-house once licensed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the named PIC on the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy application and lead submission through to inspection approval.
- Collaborate during facility build-out to ensure compliance with Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Author all standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and protocols ahead of pharmacy launch.
- Manage pharmacy operations post-launch, including prescription dispensing, mail order fulfillment, and quality control.
- Oversee DEA registration and uphold controlled substance compliance.
- Maintain audit readiness and act as the primary contact for regulators.
- Hire, train, and supervise pharmacy staff during and after startup phases.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
- Minimum of 3 years’ pharmacy experience; prior PIC experience strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience leading new pharmacy launches, including regulatory applications and inspection readiness.
- Background in specialty pharmacy, particularly hormone replacement therapy or related compounding.
- Strong knowledge of DEA compliance and controlled substance regulations.
- Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure in additional states, supporting multi-state operations.
