A Long-Term Care Pharmacist in Charge is needed to lead a closed-door LTC pharmacy in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This direct hire position requires an experienced leader who can effectively manage pharmacy operations, maintain regulatory compliance, and provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment handling approximately 600 prescriptions per day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations including prescription dispensing and medication counseling
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and controlled substances
- Develop and implement policies to promote safe, efficient pharmacy practices
- Supervise and support pharmacy staff, fostering professional growth and teamwork
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing staff training
- Manage medication inventory levels to reduce waste
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve medication issues
- Address customer inquiries and complaints with excellent service
- Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes
- Lead pharmacy quality improvement initiatives and conduct regular safety audits
- Ensure a clean, safe working environment following infection control protocols
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active and clear Massachusetts Pharmacist license required
- 2 to 4 years of experience in long-term care pharmacy
- Recent management experience in LTC preferred; retail PIC experience not sought
- Familiarity with pharmacy software; training on Frameworks system provided
Schedule:
- Primarily Monday through Friday day shift with occasional evening coverage
- Weekend work as needed
