An opportunity is available for a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) leading a closed-door Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy serving approximately 600 prescriptions daily. This direct hire role requires a seasoned pharmacy professional with strong leadership skills and LTC management experience to restore stability to a pharmacy that has been without dedicated PIC oversight for over three years. The position involves managing daily pharmacy operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a high-performing work environment.

Location: Cambridge, MA
Facility Type: Closed-door LTC Pharmacy
Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, primarily day shift
  • Occasional evening coverage and weekends as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations are strictly followed
  • Oversee prescription dispensing, medication counseling, and patient care services
  • Maintain accurate records of prescription orders, inventory, and controlled substances
  • Develop and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures to promote safety and efficiency
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate pharmacy staff including pharmacists and technicians
  • Manage inventory levels in collaboration with the inventory manager to reduce waste
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurers to resolve medication-related issues
  • Handle customer concerns and ensure prompt resolution with exceptional service
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes, implementing necessary improvements
  • Conduct audits and maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives in operational and patient care outcomes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active and clear Massachusetts Pharmacist license required
  • Minimum 2-4 years of LTC pharmacy experience
  • Recent pharmacy management experience, preferably in an LTC setting
  • Familiarity or willingness to train on Frameworks software system
