Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) - Clewiston, Florida

This contract opportunity seeks an experienced Director of Pharmacy who will also serve as Pharmacist in Charge at a healthcare facility in Clewiston, FL. The role offers a chance to lead pharmacy operations within an inpatient setting known for acute care specialties including ICU, outpatient infusion, surgery, and medical-surgical services.

Key responsibilities include pharmacy leadership, regulatory and compliance oversight, and preparation for The Joint Commission (TJC) inspections. You will work closely with pharmacy staff to ensure seamless operations in a setting with limited weekday staffing. The role involves oversight of sterile compounding processes, primarily carried out by pharmacy technicians. Training on site-specific systems such as CPSI order entry and Omnicell automation will be provided, although prior experience is preferred.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Licensed Florida Pharmacist and Consultant licensure required
• Minimum of 3 years management experience in inpatient pharmacy settings
• Strong knowledge of IV preparations and TJC standards
• Experience with CPSI and Omnicell preferred but not mandatory
• Ability to manage compliance and regulatory initiatives effectively

Coverage Details:

• Contract position starting August 31 through to permanent hire, with current Director’s last day September 4
• Coverage hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to approximately 4:30–5:00 PM
• No weekend coverage required

Facility and Team:

• Staff includes 3 pharmacy technicians, 1 full-time pharmacist, and 4 PRN pharmacists
• Pharmacy operates within TJC guidelines and has not undergone an annual Board of Pharmacy inspection recently
