Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) | Mail Order Pharmacy | Alabama

An established mail order pharmacy is seeking a licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee operations and ensure regulatory compliance. This role requires active pharmacist licenses in both Illinois and Alabama, as the PIC responsibilities will be governed primarily by these states' regulations. This contract position offers a flexible, part-time schedule averaging approximately 8 hours per week, ideal for a pharmacist looking to maintain key leadership duties with autonomy.

Location:

  • Mail order pharmacy based in Alabama (Rainsville area)

Schedule:

  • Approximately 8 hours per week
  • Flexible hours as long as all PIC duties are fulfilled

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with both state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Oversee pharmacy policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance programs
  • Monitor accuracy of medication dispensing and ensure patient safety in daily workflows
  • Maintain all Illinois PIC compliance documentation and reporting requirements
  • Supervise pharmacy personnel involved in mail order fulfillment processes
  • Manage controlled substances oversight including DEA recordkeeping and compliance
  • Prepare pharmacy for audits, inspections, and implement corrective action plans as needed
  • Oversee proper medication storage, handling, packaging, and shipment practices
  • Review and approve updates to SOPs, compliance logs, and other regulatory documentation
  • Serve as primary contact for state boards, accreditation bodies, and auditors

Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacist licenses in Illinois and Alabama (mandatory)
  • Additional pharmacist licenses in Tennessee or Georgia a plus, but not required
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or demonstrated pharmacy leadership
  • Strong knowledge of mail order pharmacy operations and regulations
  • Ability to work independently with diligence and attention to detail under a limited hours schedule
