Oversee critical pharmacy operations as a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a mail order pharmacy serving Alabama. This role requires an active pharmacist license in both Illinois and Alabama to fulfill state regulatory responsibilities. The position offers approximately 8 flexible hours per week, ideal for a professional skilled in regulatory compliance and mail order pharmacy management.

Location:
Mail order pharmacy based in Alabama (Crossville area), with licensure governing duties in both Alabama and Illinois.

Schedule:

  • Approximately 8 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling as long as PIC duties are fully met

Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacist licenses in Illinois and Alabama (mandatory)
  • Additional licenses in Tennessee or Georgia are advantageous but not required
  • Prior experience as a PIC or in pharmacy leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of mail order pharmacy regulations and operational workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage regulatory compliance and staff oversight

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure pharmacy operations comply with all state and federal laws and regulations
  • Oversee and maintain pharmacy policies, SOPs, and quality assurance programs
  • Monitor medication dispensing accuracy and uphold patient safety standards
  • Maintain Illinois PIC compliance documentation and reporting requirements
  • Supervise pharmacy personnel involved in mail order fulfillment activities
  • Manage controlled substance oversight including DEA recordkeeping and reporting
  • Prepare for audits and regulatory inspections; develop and implement corrective action plans
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, packaging, and shipment of medications
  • Review and approve updates to compliance documentation and SOPs
  • Serve as the main contact for state boards, auditors, and accreditation organizations
