Join a specialty pharmacy leadership opportunity in Lufkin, TX, directing the launch and management of a new outpatient specialty pharmacy. This direct hire role entails relocating to Lufkin (ideal candidates located in Houston, Tyler, or surrounding areas). You will play a critical role in building pharmacy operations from the ground up, including regulatory compliance, insurance contracting, and staffing.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) with full accountability for licensure, DEA oversight, and regulatory compliances
- Lead pharmacy build-out and operational setup for a brand-new specialty pharmacy location
- Manage insurance contract onboarding and maintain relationships with payers
- Oversee day-to-day pharmacy functions to ensure safe and accurate dispensing of specialty medications
- Train and supervise pharmacy staff including pharmacists and technicians
- Collaborate with specialty clinics and healthcare providers for coordinated patient care
- Implement policies, lead audits, and manage regulatory inspections (BOP, accreditation)
- Handle inventory management, medication recalls, and temperature-sensitive drug handling
- Act as clinical and workflow expert, supporting prior authorization reviews, patient counseling, and medication access
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Texas pharmacist license, eligible to be PIC
- Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience required
- Outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy experience mandatory; inpatient backgrounds will not be considered
- Familiarity with specialty pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx) and EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner) is a plus
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset to work closely with providers and clinics
- PharmD or equivalent advanced pharmacy degree
- Detail-oriented with a passion for quality patient care and process improvement
