A specialty pharmacy focused on hormone replacement therapy is seeking a qualified pharmacist to serve as Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) overseeing the licensure process and pharmacy launch. This contract-to-hire opportunity is located in a new facility currently under construction in Lancaster, PA, with a targeted start in mid-June.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the named PIC on the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy application, leading the licensure process from submission through board inspection and approval
- Collaborate during the facility build-out, ensuring compliance with Board of Pharmacy physical requirements
- Author and implement all pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and procedures prior to opening
- Oversee pharmacy operations post-launch including dispensing, mail order fulfillment, and quality assurance
- Manage DEA registration and controlled substance compliance
- Maintain audit readiness and serve as primary regulatory contact
- Hire, train, and manage pharmacy support staff as the team grows
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
- Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing (no disciplinary history)
- Minimum 3 years pharmacist experience; prior PIC experience strongly preferred
- Experience with new pharmacy startups, licensure applications, and inspections
- Strong knowledge of DEA compliance and controlled substance handling
- Background in hormone replacement therapy, specialty pharmacy, or compounding preferred
- Willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as the pharmacy expands (multi-state licensure a plus)
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in a pre-operational, build-out environment
