Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) - Ellendale, Delaware

A rehabilitation hospital is seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge to provide pharmacy oversight and staffing. This role is based in a 36-bed rehab hospital setting, focusing on delivering pharmacy services that support patient recovery and care.

Location:
Ellendale, DE (with assignment at a nearby rehab hospital in Georgetown, DE)

Schedule/Hours:

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Approximately 40 hours per week
• Weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage as needed

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), providing leadership and management of pharmacy operations
• Staff pharmacy shifts to ensure continuous pharmaceutical care coverage
• Supervise and collaborate with pharmacy technicians (1 full-time and 1 PRN per shift)
• Utilize the Wellsky hospital pharmacy information system for accurate medication management
• Manage medication dispensing with the Pyxis automation system
• Perform IV compounding duties (note: no chemotherapy compounding involved)
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and state regulations while maintaining high-quality patient care

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid pharmacist license with eligibility to serve as a Pharmacist in Charge
• Experience in a rehabilitation hospital or similar healthcare setting preferred
• Skilled in IV compounding and medication management systems (Wellsky and Pyxis experience highly valued)
• Strong supervisory and communication skills to manage pharmacy staff effectively
• Flexibility to provide weekend, after-hours, and on-call support as needed
