Pharmacist in Charge - Fort Payne, AL

A mail order pharmacy in Alabama seeks an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and operational standards. This role requires active pharmacist licenses in both Illinois and Alabama, as these govern the PIC responsibilities.

Location: Fort Payne, AL (with operational oversight in Rainsville, Alabama)

Schedule:

• Approximately 8 hours per week (flexible as long as all PIC duties are met)

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
• Oversee pharmacy policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance programs
• Supervise medication dispensing accuracy and patient safety procedures
• Maintain all Illinois PIC compliance documentation and reporting
• Manage controlled substance oversight, including DEA recordkeeping and reporting
• Prepare for and manage audits, inspections, and corrective action plans
• Ensure proper storage, packaging, and shipment of medications
• Approve updates to SOPs and regulatory documentation
• Serve as primary liaison for state boards, accreditation bodies, and auditors
• Support pharmacy personnel involved in mail order fulfillment

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active Illinois and Alabama pharmacist licenses (required)
• Additional state licenses (TN, GA) are a plus but not mandatory
• Prior experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or in pharmacy leadership roles
• Strong knowledge of mail order pharmacy operations and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work independently while maintaining strict compliance within a flexible schedule
