A multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) opportunity is available with a well-established closed-door mail order pharmacy in Gaithersburg, MD. This role offers part-time hours focused on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the potential to add a third day, supporting a strong team of six technicians and fellow pharmacists.
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Schedule:
- Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7 AM – 3 PM
- 16-24 hours per week, part-time
- 13+ weeks ongoing assignment
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active MD Pharmacist license plus licensure in most of the following states: AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX (candidates missing a few licenses but with majority coverage encouraged to apply)
- Minimum 2 years of recent long-term care or mail order pharmacy experience
- At least 2 years of pharmacy management experience
- Sterile compounding experience is a plus but not required
- Immediate availability preferred
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations as the PIC, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations within a long-term care pharmacy environment
- Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, maintaining workflow efficiency and accuracy in medication dispensing
- Review, verify, and approve prescriptions to ensure safe and appropriate therapy for long-term care patients
- Maintain quality assurance, controlled substance compliance, policy implementation, and documentation standards
- Collaborate with facility staff, providers, and nursing teams to optimize patient care and medication management
- Support sterile compounding and clean room operations if experienced and comfortable
