A closed-door mail order pharmacy located in Gaithersburg, MD, seeks a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join their team. This position offers part-time hours, working Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 AM to 3 PM, with potential for an additional day in the future. The role is ongoing with a minimum commitment of 13 weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations as the PIC, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations in a long-term care (LTC) pharmacy setting.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to maintain efficient workflow and accuracy in medication dispensing.
  • Review, verify, and approve prescriptions and medication orders to guarantee safe and appropriate therapy for LTC patients.
  • Maintain quality assurance programs, controlled substance compliance, policy implementation, and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with facility staff, healthcare providers, and nursing teams to enhance patient care, medication management, and timely delivery.
  • Support sterile compounding and clean room operations if experienced and comfortable working in this environment.

Qualifications:

  • Active Maryland Pharmacist License plus licensure in AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, and TX (candidates with most licenses are encouraged to apply).
  • Minimum of 2 years pharmacy management experience.
  • At least 2 years of recent long-term care or mail order pharmacy experience.
  • Sterile compounding experience is preferred but not required.
  • Availability to start immediately.

Schedule and Location:

  • Part-Time, approximately 16-24 hours per week.
  • Shifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 AM to 3 PM.
  • Location: Gaithersburg, MD.
