A leadership opportunity is available for a Pharmacist in Charge to oversee pharmacy operations at a closed-door Long-Term Care (LTC) facility. This role requires a strong, reliable pharmacist who can ensure compliance, manage a busy workflow, and lead a team in a fast-paced environment dispensing approximately 600 prescriptions per day. LTC experience is highly preferred due to the specialized nature of the patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all pharmacy activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage daily pharmacy operations including prescription dispensing, medication counseling, and patient care services.
- Maintain accurate records related to prescriptions, inventory, and controlled substances.
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures for safe and efficient operations.
- Lead, support, and train pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, fostering a high-performance team.
- Oversee medication inventory, working closely with the inventory manager to balance adequate supply with waste reduction.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurers to resolve medication-related issues.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints with excellent service and timely resolution.
- Keep current with industry trends, new medications, and regulatory changes to maintain compliance.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency and patient care.
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in line with infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active and clear Kentucky Pharmacist license.
- 2-4 years of experience in Long-Term Care pharmacy.
- Recent experience managing pharmacy operations, preferably within LTC.
- Strong commitment to reliability and attendance, critical for this role.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, day shift.
- Occasional evening and weekend coverage only if needed.
