A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for a newly opening specialty pharmacy site. This permanent direct hire role offers the opportunity to lead pharmacy build-out, compliance, and operations from the ground up, playing a critical role in shaping a patient-focused specialty pharmacy.
Location: Onsite - Shreveport, LA
Hours: Monday through Friday, exact schedule TBD
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards
- Oversee all pharmacy operations, including prescription dispensing, drug storage, security protocols, and patient safety
- Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and maintain documentation for compliance with licensing and accreditation bodies
- Manage insurance contract onboarding and collaborate closely with clinic providers to optimize specialty medication outcomes and patient access
- Supervise and train pharmacy staff, fostering continuous professional development and adherence to quality standards
- Handle inventory management, including temperature-sensitive products and recalls
- Serve as clinical expert by supporting patient counseling, therapeutic substitutions, and prior authorization processes
- Participate in strategic planning for pharmacy growth and service expansion in specialty medication areas
Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacist (PharmD or equivalent) with an active, unrestricted LA pharmacist license eligible for PIC designation
- Proven experience as a Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager, specifically within outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy settings (inpatient experience not considered)
- Demonstrated knowledge of specialty medications, benefits investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance processes
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills, including composing professional appeal letters for medication coverage
- Comfortable working in a start-up environment and proficient with pharmacy software systems; experience with EMR (EPIC, Cerner) or specialty pharmacy systems is a plus
