A growing closed-door mail order pharmacy seeks a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to provide expert leadership and support in a dynamic long-term care (LTC) pharmacy setting. This part-time role offers a focused schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with potential for an additional day, making it ideal for pharmacists looking to contribute their management skills within a collaborative, well-staffed team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily pharmacy operations ensuring full compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, to maintain efficient workflow and safe medication dispensing.
- Review, verify, and approve prescriptions to guarantee appropriate therapy for LTC patients.
- Maintain quality assurance initiatives, manage controlled substance compliance, enforce policies, and uphold documentation standards.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare providers and nursing teams to optimize medication management and ensure timely delivery.
- Assist with sterile compounding and clean room activities if qualified and comfortable working in an IV/compounding environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Maryland Pharmacist License plus most of the following: AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX.
- Minimum of 2 years pharmacy management experience.
- At least 2 years recent experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy.
- Sterile compounding experience is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to start immediately.
Schedule and Location:
- Part-Time, 16-24 hours per week
- Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (third day possible)
- Work is located in Gaithersburg, MD at a closed-door mail order pharmacy.
