This opportunity involves leading the launch and management of a new specialty pharmacy in Katy, TX, focusing on operational excellence and regulatory compliance. You will play an essential role in collaborating with specialty care clinics to enhance patient outcomes and support the pharmacy's integration within the healthcare network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all pharmacy operations as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA, and accreditation standards.
  • Manage the pharmacy build-out and opening phases, including insurance contract onboarding and workflow development.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, security, and quality assurance.
  • Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and maintain documentation for compliance.
  • Supervise and train pharmacy staff to uphold quality standards and continuing education.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and clinic staff to optimize formulary use, medication access, and coordinated patient care.
  • Handle medication incident investigations and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage inventory, including procurement, handling of temperature-sensitive drugs, and recalls.
  • Support patient counseling, therapeutic substitutions, and prior authorization processes.
  • Serve as the clinical expert and workflow leader for all pharmacy functions.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Holding a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree with an active, unrestricted pharmacist license in Texas, eligible for PIC designation.
  • Proven experience as a Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager, specifically in outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy settings (inpatient experience is not applicable).
  • Strong knowledge of specialty medications and the specialty pharmacy operational landscape.
  • Experience with insurance contracts, prior authorizations, financial assistance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software (QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, WAM) and familiarity with EMR (EPIC, Cerner, NextGen) or specialty pharmacy systems (Therigy, Asembia1, ScriptMed) is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaborative skills, with a customer-focused and solution-driven mindset.
  • Ability to work onsite and manage projects within a start-up environment.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday; exact hours to be determined.
