A leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Pharmacist in Charge at a well-established infusion pharmacy setting. This role involves directing pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards, and providing clinical pharmacy services with a focus on sterile compounding and chemotherapy preparations.
Location: Keystone Heights, FL
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Team: Onsite staff including 2 full-time technicians, 2 full-time pharmacists, and 1 weekend pharmacist
Volume: Approximately 100 scripts daily, including 15-20 chemotherapy compounding orders
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret, verify, and process physician medication orders with accuracy and clinical judgment
- Perform and supervise sterile compounding activities in strict accordance with USP <797> and <800> standards
- Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations to ensure safety and quality
- Review medication profiles for safety parameters such as allergies, interactions, dosing, and compatibility
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians and nurses
- Provide leadership by supervising, mentoring, and training pharmacy staff and technicians
- Maintain cleanroom protocols, aseptic technique, and environment monitoring consistent with regulatory requirements
- Oversee quality assurance, medication safety initiatives, regulatory audits, and continuous improvement processes
- Manage inventory control, including controlled substances and overall pharmacy operations
- Develop and update pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs
- Lead staff meetings and ensure adherence to OSHA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, and organizational compliance standards
- Enforce safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Florida Pharmacist license in good standing
- 3-5 years of experience in hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding with compliance to USP, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Pharmacy management experience
- Recent (within 3-5 years) exposure to home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment requiring sterile compounding expertise
