Pharmacist in Charge – Direct Hire Opportunity – Lake Butler, FL
This role offers a unique blend of sterile compounding expertise, clinical pharmacy services, regulatory compliance, and leadership. Supporting infusion pharmacy patients with a low volume of approximately 100 prescriptions per day, including 15-20 chemotherapy preparations, this position is critical to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Team Environment:
- Onsite staff includes 2 full-time pharmacists, 2 full-time pharmacy technicians, and 1 weekend pharmacist
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret, verify, and process physician medication orders accurately
- Perform and oversee sterile compounding consistent with USP <797> and USP <800> standards
- Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations
- Review patient medication profiles for safety, allergies, interactions, and dosing
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians and nurses
- Supervise, mentor, and lead pharmacists, technicians, and support staff
- Ensure adherence to aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, and cleanroom standards
- Manage quality assurance, medication safety initiatives, audits, and continuous process improvement
- Maintain compounding, batch, quality, and regulatory documentation meticulously
- Oversee inventory management, controlled substances, and overall pharmacy operations
- Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs
- Lead staff meetings and support a culture of compliance with all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, DEA, and State Board of Pharmacy standards
Qualifications:
- Active Florida Pharmacist license in good standing
- 3-5 years of experience in hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding, with strong knowledge of USP <797>, USP <800>, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Proven pharmacy management experience
- Preferred 3-5 years recent experience in home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work competently in a sterile compounding environment
