Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) | Lindale, Texas

Join a specialty pharmacy leadership role that offers the unique opportunity to build a brand-new pharmacy from the ground up in Lindale, TX. This direct hire position places you as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) responsible for not only operational oversight but also strategic development, regulatory compliance, and collaborative patient care focused on specialty pharmacy services.

Location: Onsite in Lindale, TX
Schedule: Monday through Friday, hours to be determined

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge with full accountability for licensure, controlled substances, and regulatory inspections.
• Manage build-out and opening of the new specialty pharmacy, ensuring compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and DEA.
• Lead onboarding of insurance contracts, coordinate with regulatory bodies, and support accreditation processes.
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations, emphasizing accurate dispensing, patient safety, policy enforcement, and inventory control, including temperature-sensitive medications.
• Supervise and train pharmacy staff, foster continuing education, and maintain exceptional quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with specialty care clinics and providers to improve medication access, formulary use, and patient outcomes.
• Investigate, document, and resolve medication incidents while driving continuous quality improvement.
• Act as a clinical resource for patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and prior authorization reviews.
• Support strategic planning efforts to expand pharmacy services and deliver value-based care initiatives.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in Texas, eligible to be Pharmacist-in-Charge.
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree.
• Prior Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager experience in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy; inpatient pharmacists will not be considered.
• Proven expertise in specialty pharmacy workflows, insurance benefit navigation, prior authorizations, and financial assistance processes.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with providers and assist with appeal letters.
• Familiarity with pharmacy software systems (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx, or equivalent); bonus for experience with EMR or specialty pharmacy systems.
• Collaborative mindset, creative problem solving, and the ability to thrive in a start-up environment.
