A specialty pharmacy management group is launching a new specialty pharmacy location in Lufkin, TX, and is seeking a qualified Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead this exciting opportunity. This direct hire role requires relocation and offers a chance to play an integral role in opening and managing a startup specialty pharmacy that partners closely with specialty care clinics.
Location: Lufkin, TX (Candidates from Houston, Tyler, or other areas encouraged to apply)

- Monday through Friday, hours TBD
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of pharmacy build-out and opening, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA, and accreditation standards
- Serve as the designated PIC with accountability for licensure, controlled substance oversight, and regulatory inspections
- Manage daily operational functions including prescription processing, drug storage, inventory management, and quality assurance
- Oversee onboarding of insurance contracts and maintain strong relationships with clinics and providers to coordinate specialty patient care
- Supervise and train pharmacists, technicians, and support staff to maintain high clinical standards and compliance
- Handle medication safety incidents with thorough documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in strategic planning to develop service line expansion and optimize specialty pharmacy workflows
- Utilize pharmacy and EMR software systems to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes
- Compose appeal letters and navigate prior authorization and financial assistance processes to ensure patient access to specialty medications
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree with current, unrestricted Texas pharmacist license eligible for PIC designation
- Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience with outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy preferred; inpatient pharmacy background not considered
- Strong knowledge of specialty medications and willingness to learn new therapeutic areas
- Experience with specialty pharmacy and EMR systems (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx, Therigy, EPIC) highly valued
- Excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, and demonstrated ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary care teams
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of leading operations in a startup environment
