A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the opening and operation of a new specialty pharmacy located in Shreveport, LA. This direct hire opportunity involves managing the build-out, licensing, regulatory compliance, and insurance contracting necessary to launch a state-of-the-art specialty pharmacy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing daily pharmacy operations ensuring safe, accurate dispensing and clinical protocol adherence
  • Serving as the designated PIC, maintaining licensure, controlled substance oversight, and handling regulatory inspections
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal and state pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA, and accreditation standards
  • Leading audits, recordkeeping, and coordinating with regulatory bodies
  • Supervising and training pharmacy staff to maintain quality and compliance
  • Collaborating with providers and clinic staff to optimize specialty medication access, prior authorizations, and patient care
  • Managing inventory, including procurement and handling temperature-sensitive drugs
  • Developing workflows, processes, and strategic initiatives to support pharmacy growth
  • Acting as clinical expert for patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and prior authorization reviews

Ideal candidates will have prior outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy experience and proven leadership as a PIC or Pharmacy Manager. Inpatient-only backgrounds will not be considered. Strong skills in specialty medication knowledge, pharmacy technologies, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers are critical. The role requires an active Louisiana pharmacist license eligible to serve as PIC.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, hours TBD

Compensation:

  • $135,000 - $150,000 annual salary
  • Performance bonus, equity stake, and unlimited paid time off
