Pharmacist in Charge – Direct Hire Opportunity
Location: Middleburg, FL
Schedule: Monday to Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

This role requires a seasoned pharmacist to lead pharmacy operations, focusing on sterile compounding and infusion pharmacy services. The pharmacy supports a low volume of approximately 100 prescriptions daily, including 15-20 chemotherapy preparations, and is staffed by two full-time pharmacists, two full-time technicians, and one weekend pharmacist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret, verify, and process physician medication orders with accuracy.
  • Perform and oversee sterile compounding in strict adherence to USP <797>, USP <800>, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy standards.
  • Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Review medication profiles critically for allergies, interactions, dosing, and compatibility.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams to optimize patient care.
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, including technicians and pharmacists.
  • Maintain aseptic technique, cleanroom standards, and environmental monitoring.
  • Oversee quality assurance, regulatory audits, medication safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including controlled substances and compounding supplies.
  • Develop and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs.
  • Lead staff meetings and ensure adherence to all regulatory and company compliance guidelines.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently during all responsibilities.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Florida Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding compliant with USP, DEA, OSHA, and Board regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Pharmacy management experience.
  • Preferably 3-5 years recent experience in home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy.
  • Ability to thrive in a sterile compounding environment.
