Pharmacist in Charge in Newark, NJ

A specialty pharmacy focused on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is seeking a licensed Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) to lead the licensure application and operational launch of a new mail-order pharmacy facility in Lancaster, PA. This temp-to-hire role offers a unique opportunity to build a pharmacy from the ground up, overseeing everything from regulatory compliance and SOP development to operational oversight and staff management.

• Lancaster, PA (499 Running Pump Rd, Unit 109)
• Mail-order pharmacy setting
• Start date: Mid-June

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the named PIC for the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy licensure application, managing the process from submission through inspection and approval
• Collaborate during the facility build-out to ensure compliance with Board requirements
• Author and implement all pharmacy SOPs, policies, and procedures prior to launch
• Oversee pharmacy operations post-launch, including dispensing, mail-order fulfillment, and quality assurance
• Manage DEA registration and controlled substance compliance
• Maintain audit readiness and act as primary regulatory contact
• Hire, train, and manage pharmacy support staff as the operation grows

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
• Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing with no disciplinary history
• Minimum 3 years pharmacist experience; prior PIC experience strongly preferred
• Proven success leading PA Board of Pharmacy licensure applications and inspections
• Hands-on experience in new pharmacy launches, including SOP creation and operational setup
• Specialty pharmacy background in HRT, compounding, or related therapies preferred
• Strong knowledge of DEA compliance and controlled substance regulations
• Comfort working in a pre-operational, build-out environment
• Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure in additional states as multi-state licensing expands
