An exciting role is available for a Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to lead the licensure and operational launch of a new specialty hormone replacement therapy (HRT) pharmacy. This contract-to-hire position is based in Lancaster, PA, with a focus on mail-order pharmacy services.
The PIC will be instrumental in initiating and managing the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy licensing process during the pharmacy’s build-out phase. Once operational, this facility will transition the majority of patient prescriptions from a partner pharmacy, processing a variety of hormone therapies including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and sexual wellness medications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the named PIC on the Pennsylvania pharmacy licensure application and drive the process through submission, inspection, and approval phases.
- Author and implement all pharmacy SOPs, policies, and procedures prior to launch.
- Oversee pharmacy operations, including dispensing, mail order fulfillment, and quality assurance after launch.
- Manage DEA registration and controlled substance compliance.
- Maintain audit readiness and act as the main contact for regulatory reviews.
- Hire, train, and manage pharmacy support staff as the operation scales.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure facility readiness to meet Board of Pharmacy requirements.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing; no disciplinary history.
- Minimum 3 years of pharmacy experience; prior PIC experience preferred.
- Proven track record with pharmacy licensure applications and board inspections.
- Experience with mail order, specialty pharmacy, or hormone replacement therapies is strongly preferred.
- Strong DEA compliance knowledge.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort working in a pre-operational, build-out environment.
- Willingness to pursue multi-state licensure as the pharmacy expands.
