A leading 503A compounding pharmacy in Chandler, AZ, is seeking a qualified Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead regulatory, operational, and quality functions during a critical facility transition. This temp-to-perm contract role offers the opportunity to oversee the decommissioning of their current location while maintaining compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
The PIC will serve as the regulatory authority and operational leader, ensuring strict adherence to Arizona Board of Pharmacy rules, FDA, DEA, and USP <795>/<797> guidelines. This position requires someone capable of managing multiple licenses, leading inspections, and cultivating a culture centered on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the designated PIC for Arizona and applicable non-resident state licenses (AL, AK, AR, IL, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MS, NE, NV, OH, OK, OR, TN, TX)
- Maintain active pharmacist licensure in Arizona plus additional required states
- Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, USP standards, and Arizona Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Lead regulatory inspections and audits, acting as pharmacy representative
- Develop, update, and enforce SOPs and staff training programs
- Submit mandatory reports for theft/loss and communicate PIC or staff changes to the Board
- Oversee licensure, accreditation, and all regulatory documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy
- Active pharmacist license in Arizona and additional states as listed
- Minimum of 2 years pharmacy experience, including hosting inspections
- Familiarity with compounding operations and DEA regulatory requirements
- Flexibility for full-time day shift hours with the potential for schedule adjustments
This contract assignment spans approximately 13+ weeks with potential for permanent placement. Preference is for local candidates in Chandler, AZ; however, remote candidates who can maintain active licenses and oversight are encouraged to apply. The client is open to dividing responsibilities between two pharmacists if combined licensure covers the required states.
