A leadership role is available for a licensed Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) with extensive long-term care (LTC) experience to oversee operations at a brand-new pharmacy start-up facility. This direct hire opportunity requires a Virginia pharmacist license in hand and a strong operational background to help launch and manage pharmacy activities effectively.
Location and Work Environment:
- Based in Roanoke, VA, with recruitment targeting candidates across other areas of Virginia and North Carolina
- New site team includes 40 full-time employees: 9 pharmacists, 30 technicians, and 1 administrative support
- Facility operates 24/7 with rotating shifts, primarily 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and 3:00 PM–11:00 PM; third shift hours TBD
- Systems used include Frameworks and DocuTrack
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations, policies, and SOPs
- Implement and monitor Quality Assurance programs and pharmacy policies effectively
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness
- Control inventory management including dispensing, stocking, labeling, and monitoring for quality and expiration
- Lead from the front by supporting floor staff and fostering a motivated, productive team environment
- Serve as a visible and accessible leader encouraging teamwork and staff development
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Virginia pharmacist license required with no waiting period for licensure transfer
- Minimum of 5 years LTC pharmacy experience, preferably with prior leadership or PIC roles
- Strong operational expertise to manage a new pharmacy site successfully
- Proficient in MS Office and pharmacy systems such as Frameworks and DocuTrack
- Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate teams while enforcing regulations and standards
- Degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacology with a high level of integrity and customer focus
