A leadership role is available for an experienced Pharmacist In Charge to lead operations at a newly established long-term care (LTC) pharmacy site. This direct hire opportunity requires a strong operations background and prior LTC experience, ideally in a leadership capacity.
Location & Work Environment:
- Based in Salem, VA, supporting a new start-up pharmacy affiliated with an expanding LTC services provider
- 40 total staff: 9 pharmacists, 30 technicians, 1 administrative support
- 24/7 operation with shifting schedules (1st, 2nd, and pending 3rd shifts)
- Technology utilized includes Frameworks and DocuTrack systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee pharmacy compliance with all state, federal, and company laws and regulations
- Implement quality assurance programs and uphold policies and procedures
- Review and verify physician prescriptions for accuracy and legality
- Manage inventory control, proper labeling, and storage conditions to prevent medication degradation or expiration
- Maintain visibility on the pharmacy floor and actively support team members in daily tasks
- Motivate and lead staff to meet productivity and operational goals
Required Qualifications:
- Virginia pharmacist license ready to use immediately (essential for site opening)
- Minimum 5+ years of LTC pharmacy experience, with preference given to those who have held leadership roles
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical dosages, compounds, and medication management
- Strong organizational, communication, and team-building skills
- Proficiency with MS Office and pharmacy management software such as Frameworks
