A new specialty pharmacy in Shreveport, LA, is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the build-out and opening of their facility. This direct hire role offers the unique opportunity to establish operational workflows, secure insurance contracts, and ensure regulatory compliance under your leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the designated PIC, ensuring compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards
  • Manage daily pharmacy operations, including accurate dispensing, patient safety, and enforcement of clinical protocols
  • Lead audits, maintain records, and coordinate regulatory inspections
  • Oversee insurance contract onboarding and collaborate with providers to optimize patient care and medication access
  • Supervise, train, and support pharmacists, technicians, and staff to maintain high quality standards
  • Handle inventory management, including procurement and temperature-sensitive drug protocols
  • Address medication incidents with thorough documentation and quality improvement measures
  • Participate in strategic planning for pharmacy growth and service expansion
  • Act as the clinical expert supporting patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and prior authorization processes
  • Develop workflows and processes as part of a start-up pharmacy environment

Qualifications:

  • Active and unrestricted Louisiana pharmacist license, eligible to serve as PIC
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager with outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy expertise (inpatient experience not considered)
  • Strong knowledge of specialty medications and benefits navigation, including prior authorizations and appeals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience composing provider appeal letters
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx) and EMR or specialty pharmacy systems is a plus
  • Collaborative mindset with proven ability to engage healthcare providers and clinic staff
  • Capable of working independently while fostering teamwork

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday to Friday, hours to be determined
