A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for a newly opening specialty pharmacy in Shreveport, LA. This is a direct hire opportunity focused on leading the build-out and operational launch of the pharmacy. The ideal candidate will have prior outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy experience and proven leadership as a PIC or pharmacy manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the designated PIC, ensuring compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations, including accurate dispensing, patient safety, and regulatory adherence.
- Lead efforts for insurance contract onboarding, pharmacy licensure, controlled substance oversight, and regulatory inspections.
- Develop and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and security.
- Supervise and train pharmacy staff, fostering quality standards and ongoing education.
- Collaborate closely with specialty care clinics and providers to enhance patient care and medication access.
- Manage inventory, procurement, and handling of temperature-sensitive medications.
- Participate in strategic planning to support pharmacy growth and service expansion.
- Act as the clinical expert for patient counseling, therapeutic substitutions, and prior authorization reviews.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Active, unrestricted Louisiana pharmacist license eligible for PIC designation.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree.
- Prior PIC or pharmacy manager experience in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy.
- Strong knowledge of specialty medications and pharmacy software systems (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx, Therigy).
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to compose provider appeals and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Experience working in start-up environments and building workflows from the ground up.
- Leadership skills with a collaborative mindset and attention to detail.
Hours of Operation:
- Monday through Friday, specific times to be determined.
This direct hire position offers a competitive salary range of $135,000 to $150,000, plus performance bonus, equity stake, and unlimited PTO. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a new specialty pharmacy and make a significant impact on patient care and pharmacy operations.
