A specialty pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead the opening and management of a newly established location in Shreveport, LA. This direct hire opportunity offers the chance to play a critical role in launching a specialty pharmacy in collaboration with specialty care clinics. The selected candidate will oversee pharmacy build-out, regulatory compliance, insurance contracting, and daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge responsible for licensure, controlled substance management, and inspections.
  • Manage daily pharmacy operations focused on accurate dispensing, patient safety, and clinical protocol adherence.
  • Develop and enforce policies related to prescription processing, drug storage, and security.
  • Lead audits and coordinate regulatory responses.
  • Supervise and train pharmacy staff to maintain quality and education standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize formulary management and medication access.
  • Investigate medication incidents and drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Oversee inventory, including procurement and temperature-sensitive medication handling.
  • Participate in strategic planning to support pharmacy growth and service expansion.
  • Act as the clinical expert to support patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and authorization reviews.
  • Develop efficient workflows from prescription receipt through dispensing.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license eligible for PIC status in Louisiana.
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or Pharmacy Manager.
  • Outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy experience required; inpatient experience not considered.
  • Strong knowledge of specialty medications and pharmacy software systems; familiarity with EMR and specialty pharmacy systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage patients, providers, and teams.
  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for patient-centered care and problem solving.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in workflow management.

Schedule & Location:

  • Shreveport, LA
  • Monday to Friday, hours to be determined
  • Onsite position
