A multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) opportunity is available to oversee daily pharmacy operations at a closed-door mail order pharmacy serving the long-term care (LTC) community. This part-time role offers a consistent schedule with the potential for growth in hours and responsibility.

Position Details:

  • Location: Silver Spring, MD (with work based at a Gaithersburg, MD mail order pharmacy)
  • Terms: 13+ weeks ongoing
  • Hours: Part-Time, 16-24 hours per week
  • Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 AM to 3 PM (potential to add a third day)
  • Environment: Strong, collaborative team including 6 pharmacy technicians and multiple pharmacists and PICs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage pharmacy operations in compliance with state and federal regulations specific to LTC pharmacy services
  • Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to maintain efficient and accurate medication dispensing
  • Review, verify, and approve prescriptions ensuring safe, appropriate medication therapy for LTC patients
  • Maintain quality assurance, controlled substance compliance, policy implementation, and thorough documentation
  • Collaborate with nursing teams and healthcare providers to support patient care and medication management
  • Support sterile compounding and clean room operations if experienced and comfortable (IV/compounding environment)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Maryland Pharmacist License plus licenses in AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX (candidates missing a few but holding most will be considered)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent LTC/mail order pharmacy experience
  • At least 2 years of pharmacy management experience
  • Sterile compounding experience preferred but not required
  • Availability to start as soon as possible
