This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a licensed Florida pharmacist with robust experience in sterile compounding and pharmacy leadership. The role focuses on pharmacy management in a low-volume setting processing approximately 100 prescriptions daily, including 15-20 chemotherapy preparations, and requires a blend of clinical expertise and operational oversight in infusion pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and verify physician medication orders accurately.
- Perform and oversee sterile compounding, ensuring strict adherence to USP <797> and USP <800> guidelines.
- Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations.
- Review medication profiles for allergies, interactions, dosing appropriateness, and compatibility.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians and nurses.
- Supervise, mentor, and lead pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
- Maintain aseptic technique, cleanroom standards, and environmental monitoring.
- Manage quality assurance programs, medication safety protocols, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee inventory management and controlled substances handling.
- Develop and enforce pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs.
- Lead staff meetings and ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, DEA, and State Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Adhere to all safety regulations by using appropriate PPE in designated work areas.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Florida pharmacist license in good standing.
- 3-5 years of experience with hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding, compliant with USP, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Pharmacy management experience is essential.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Recent (within 3-5 years) experience in home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a sterile compounding environment.
