Join an innovative specialty pharmacy venture as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) responsible for leading the build-out, opening, and daily operations of a brand-new specialty pharmacy. This direct hire role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with specialty care clinics, improving outcomes for specialty patients through expert pharmacy management and exceptional patient care.

Location: Tyler, TX
Schedule: Monday - Friday, hours TBD

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring full compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Manage all aspects of pharmacy build-out, opening, and operational readiness.
  • Oversee insurance contract onboarding in partnership with the clinics.
  • Lead pharmacy operations including dispensing accuracy, patient safety, and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Develop, enforce, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation.
  • Supervise and train pharmacy staff to maintain quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with providers and clinic teams to optimize patient care, medication access, and formulary management.
  • Investigate and resolve medication incidents while promoting continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensure precise inventory management including procurement, handling of temperature-sensitive drugs, and recall processes.
  • Support strategic initiatives for pharmacy growth and value-based care.
  • Act as the clinical expert for patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and prior authorization processes.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager experience mandatory.
  • Strong background in outpatient/retail designated specialty pharmacy; inpatient experience will not be considered.
  • Licensed pharmacist in good standing with eligibility to serve as PIC in Texas.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree required.
  • Proficient with pharmacy software such as QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, WAM; familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner, NextGen) and specialty pharmacy systems (Therigy, Asembia1, ScriptMed) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for working with providers and supporting medication appeals.
  • Collaborative and professional mindset with a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Comfortable working onsite and engaged with all members of the care team.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of $135,000 to $150,000 annually.
