Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) | Whitehouse, Texas

Join a specialty pharmacy management team dedicated to supporting clinic clients in opening and operating their own specialty pharmacies. This direct hire position is based onsite in Whitehouse, TX, and offers the unique opportunity to serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a brand-new specialty pharmacy. The PIC will play a crucial role in managing the build-out, opening, and regulatory compliance of the pharmacy, working closely with clinics to enhance patient outcomes in specialty care.

• Monday to Friday, hours to be determined

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA, and accreditation standards
• Manage licensure, controlled substance oversight, and prepare for regulatory inspections
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations focusing on safe, accurate dispensing and adherence to clinical protocols
• Lead onboarding of insurance contracts and collaborate on regulatory, accreditation, and operational requirements
• Develop and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and security
• Supervise and train pharmacy staff to maintain quality and education standards
• Collaborate with healthcare providers for coordinated patient care, formulary management, and medication access
• Investigate medication incidents and promote continuous quality improvement
• Ensure inventory management including temperature-sensitive medications and recall processes
• Act as clinical expert, supporting patient counseling and prior authorization reviews
• Drive workflow optimization from prescription receipt to dispensing

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Prior outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy experience required; inpatient pharmacists will not be considered
• Proven Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist-in-Charge experience essential for managing new pharmacy operations
• Licensed Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with an active, unrestricted TX pharmacist license eligible for PIC status
• Proficient with pharmacy software such as QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, WAM; experience with EMR or specialty pharmacy systems valued
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with providers and writing effective appeal letters
• Comfortable working in a startup environment, building workflows and processes from the ground up
• Knowledgeable about specialty medications and therapeutic areas, with a willingness to learn more
