A critical opening exists for a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead operations at a closed-door pharmacy embedded within a behavioral health hospital in Wichita Falls, TX. This contract-to-hire position offers the opportunity to manage a high-volume pharmacy environment specializing exclusively in behavioral health medications, supporting a unique patient population with specialized needs.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, managing inventory, supervising a team of pharmacy professionals, and maintaining workflow efficiency through the use of Enterprise RX software. The PIC will handle a script volume of approximately 350-400 per day, focusing on outpatient and outbound prescription fulfillment tailored to behavioral health.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead pharmacy operations within a closed-door setting attached to a behavioral health hospital
  • Ensure accurate dispensing of behavioral health medications without vaccine administration
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including 1 pharmacist and 4 technicians
  • Utilize Enterprise RX software to maintain efficient workflow and documentation
  • Coordinate with hospital clinic staff to support medication needs seamlessly

Qualifications:

  • Active Texas pharmacist license (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacist in Charge or pharmacy management experience
  • At least 2 years of pharmacist experience; retail experience is acceptable
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills for managing a specialized pharmacy setting

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

This role is urgent due to the current PIC transitioning to another role, with a last working day of March 6th, requiring immediate availability to maintain continuity. This local position requires no travel and offers a focused workweek and schedule.
