This role offers an opportunity to work as a Staff Pharmacist in a closed-door mail order pharmacy environment, supporting second shift operations from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. This temp-to-hire position initially spans approximately 13 weeks, allowing you to demonstrate your skills and transition into a direct hire role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense medications based on prescription orders, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide clear medication counseling and education, highlighting proper use, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Review and interpret physician orders to verify the accuracy and appropriateness of prescribed therapies.
- Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, and duplications to promote patient safety.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication outcomes and encourage adherence.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including medication histories and allergy information.
- Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Manage medication storage and handling, including identification and removal of expired or damaged products.
- Participate actively in pharmacy quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering and stocking pharmaceutical supplies.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues professionally.
- Stay updated with developments in pharmacy practice through ongoing professional education.
Desired Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Indiana Pharmacy License mandatory; California license preferred or willingness to reciprocate (assistance with costs provided).
- 1 to 3 years of retail pharmacy experience.
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility for up to 5% travel.
