Pharmacist in Kittanning, PA

This long-term care pharmacist position offers a dynamic environment supporting skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice care. The role involves ensuring accuracy in medication orders and managing pharmaceutical operations critical to patient care.

Location: Kittanning, PA
Type: Contract (1-month ongoing with possible extension)
Schedule:

• 40 hours per week
• Pharmacy hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
• Saturday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Sunday, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians for various care facilities
• Check blister-packed medications, and both sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals
• Respond to phone inquiries from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, providing clinical guidance
• Perform controlled substance counts and maintain accurate perpetual inventory documentation
• Inspect emergency medication boxes to ensure readiness

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
• Active pharmacist license in Pennsylvania, in good standing
• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience; long-term care (LTC) experience preferred
• Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, fine motor activities, and lifting up to 30 pounds
• Proficiency with pharmacy operating systems such as QS1, Docutrack, and PCC
