Providing expert clinical pharmacy services at an ambulatory infusion therapy clinic, this role offers the opportunity to support patients with complex acute and chronic medical needs through IV and infusion therapies. The position is a per diem Staff Pharmacist role based in Portland, ME, designed for pharmacists with hands-on experience in infusion therapy and sterile compounding.
Location:
- Portland, ME (with additional flexible coverage opportunities)
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process physician orders ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Verify insurance benefits for prescribed infusion therapies
- Perform sterile compounding following USP 797 standards and support cleanroom operations
- Ensure safe dispensing of medications and infusion-related supplies
- Maintain precise patient and pharmacy records adhering to federal and state regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain workflow and quality
- Manage patient caseloads and provide coverage for fellow pharmacists as needed
Schedule:
- Two days per month with a flexible schedule
- Additional PRN coverage opportunities as needed
Qualifications:
- Active Maine Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience; 2+ years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- Proven experience with infusion therapy and sterile compounding
- In-depth knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards
- Strong communication skills, exceptional multitasking and time management abilities, and sound critical-thinking skills
