This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services at a medical center in Likely, CA. The hospital pharmacist will operate under the direction of the Pharmaceutical Services Director, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations while managing the procurement, storage, distribution, and administration of medications. This contract position starts ASAP and lasts approximately 13 weeks, requiring recent inpatient experience within the last three years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee pharmaceutical services for inpatient care, maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Review and manage all drug distribution systems in the facility to ensure efficient operations.
- Provide drug information and education to healthcare professionals through various communication methods.
- Maintain up-to-date pharmacy policies and procedures in alignment with legal and accreditation requirements.
- Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge, assisting with licensure issues and recommending improvements.
- Verify inpatient medication orders and patients’ home medications to ensure safe and effective use.
- Manage pharmaceuticals, specialty boxes, crash carts, and various emergency kits across the facility.
- Handle controlled substances with adherence to quality assurance, security, and hazardous waste protocols.
- Maintain accurate inventory, ordering, billing, and record keeping for pharmaceuticals.
- Provide weekend retail pharmacy coverage and serve as the on-call pharmacist during assigned shifts.
- Complete administrative tasks on time related to compliance and license maintenance.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Recent inpatient pharmacy experience within the past 3 years is required.
- Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, state and federal regulations.
- Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Professionalism and ability to build positive relationships with patients, staff, and management.
- Experience handling controlled substances and maintaining compliance documentation.
