A full-time night shift pharmacist position is available to begin on the evening of May 11th. This opportunity requires coverage primarily Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts, offering some scheduling flexibility. The assignment is anticipated to last at least eight weeks.
This role is urgent due to a Pyxis system crisis and a mandate from the California Department of Public Health requiring a pharmacist be onsite during night shifts. Licensed pharmacists, including new graduates and retail pharmacists, are encouraged to apply, provided they meet Soliant compliance requirements for rapid onboarding.
Responsibilities include:
- Verifying medication orders and ensuring accuracy
- Supervising and providing guidance to pharmacy technicians
- Collaborating with nurses and physicians to optimize patient care
- Performing pharmacokinetic analysis and consultation as needed
- Utilizing Paragon/Allscripts for order entry and documentation
- Managing automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis) to maintain efficient medication distribution
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current pharmacist license in good standing
- Ability to work independently during night shifts
- Experience or willingness to work with automated dispensing systems (Pyxis preferred)
- Strong communication skills to liaise with clinical staff
- Compliance with Soliant onboarding standards
Location: Long Beach, CA
This position supports a hospital with 117 licensed beds and an average daily census of 44 patients, providing focused pharmaceutical care to ensure safe and effective medication use.
