Pharmacist - Long Beach, California

A full-time night shift pharmacist position is available to begin on the evening of May 11th. This opportunity requires coverage primarily Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts, offering some scheduling flexibility. The assignment is anticipated to last at least eight weeks.

This role is urgent due to a Pyxis system crisis and a mandate from the California Department of Public Health requiring a pharmacist be onsite during night shifts. Licensed pharmacists, including new graduates and retail pharmacists, are encouraged to apply, provided they meet Soliant compliance requirements for rapid onboarding.

Responsibilities include:

• Verifying medication orders and ensuring accuracy
• Supervising and providing guidance to pharmacy technicians
• Collaborating with nurses and physicians to optimize patient care
• Performing pharmacokinetic analysis and consultation as needed
• Utilizing Paragon/Allscripts for order entry and documentation
• Managing automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis) to maintain efficient medication distribution

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current pharmacist license in good standing
• Ability to work independently during night shifts
• Experience or willingness to work with automated dispensing systems (Pyxis preferred)
• Strong communication skills to liaise with clinical staff
• Compliance with Soliant onboarding standards

Location: Long Beach, CA

This position supports a hospital with 117 licensed beds and an average daily census of 44 patients, providing focused pharmaceutical care to ensure safe and effective medication use.
