Pharmacist - Long Beach, CA

A full-time Pharmacist position is available in the Los Angeles area, offering a dynamic hospital setting with 117 licensed beds and an average daily census of 44 patients. This contract role is ideal for pharmacists interested in a varied day/afternoon schedule and the opportunity to work across multiple nearby facilities within a 10-15 mile radius.

Responsibilities:

• Verify medication orders ensuring accuracy and compliance with hospital protocols
• Oversee and support pharmacy technicians in daily operations
• Consult with nurses and physicians to optimize patient medication therapy
• Perform pharmacokinetic monitoring and adjustments as needed
• Utilize the Allscripts/Paragon order entry system for efficient workflow
• Manage medication dispensing through Pyxis automated cabinets to maintain safety and inventory control
• Adapt to floating between sister hospitals as required to support pharmacy services

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Current pharmacy license in good standing
• Experience with hospital pharmacy operations and medication order verification
• Proficiency in Allscripts/Paragon or similar order entry systems preferred
• Familiarity with Pyxis or other automated dispensing systems
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with healthcare team members
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospital environment

Schedule/Hours:

• Full-time, variable day and afternoon shifts

Location:

• Los Angeles area, with occasional floating to sister hospitals within 10-15 miles
